The setup of Mikaels Schumacher still leave many in disblief. He has carpet dragons on the front, foams on the rear and a vast amount of front caster, but the car appears to work very well -26/2/2008

The CS22 / CS27 control tyres appeared to work well as a control tyre. A couple of comments were made about the lack of grip compared to foam tyres, but that was expected. Drivers may need to put softer springs or thinner oil in the shocks on the car to increase grip. - 7/1/2008

Introduction

The Langley model car club have around 40 members and caters for racers of ANY ability.  The youngest racer is 9 years old with the oldest racers having sons in their early teens.  Our more experienced drivers race around the country and make the 'A' finals at national events.  The club currently has three sponsored drivers. Ben Nash, Mark Payne and Paul Martin driving for HPI / Mirage. Chris Kerswell who is now as university and occasionally races with us during holidays is sponsored by Yokomo / CML.

The majority of racers drive one of the current range of 10th scales electric saloon cars.

We organise heats based on driver ability, but if requested would split saloons and buggies or any other class.

During the winter we race indoors on carpet.   When racing we enforce a control tyre to keep the costs down for the youngsters racing on a limited budget.  The control tyre is either a Schumacher carpet Dragoon.  The club can provide these at £7.50 / pair include foam inserts.

We normally allow about 30 minutes of open practice and then run 3 or 4 qualifying rounds plus finals. Racing normally starts around 8pm

Championships

Championships are held two or 3 times a year.  In the spring time around Easter,  during July and August in the Summer and a winter championship in the run up to Christmas.  Trophies are normally awarded at the end of the Championship, with occasional raffles with prizes kindly donated from local model shops.

Race Dates

The club meet every Friday evening, except for 2 weeks over Christmas and Good Friday.
